Angus Young S Guitar

Angus Young and Gibson USA have developed a guitar that’s a replica of the AC/DC man’s trademark Gibson SG.

The model goes under the name of the Angus Young SG. Limited to 250, Gibson say, ‘It captures the tone, look, and feel of this rare specimen among a classic breed, but which updates this legendary guitar with custom modifications requested by Angus himself’.

There are also, ‘Upgraded modifications at Angus’s request, including an ebony fingerboard with “lightning bolt” inlays (a further 200 guitars will receive the VOS treatment)’. But no free schoolboy uniform is included with the guitar.

Moreover, 50 of these guitars have been specially aged in-house by Gibson and signed by Young.

Angus Young Gear

Angus Young is a Scottish-born Australian musician and songwriter best known as the lead guitarist of the hard rock band AC/DC which he co-founded with brother, Malcolm Young. The band rose to fame in the ‘70s with original singer and frontman Bonn Scott until his death in 1980 but quickly found renewed success with replacement singer Brian Johnson and the release of their seminal album, “Back in Black,” considered by many to be the group’s best. AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
Young is as synonymous to the Gibson SG as Jimmy Page is with a dual-neck guitar, although he does switch from time to time to other Gibson models such as the Firebird or ES-355 customized with humbucker pickups, along with Fender Telecasters.
Known for not using any effects pedals whatsoever, Young delivers his signature sound through a series of Marshall Amps and cabinets along with a loose set of guitar strings such as Ernie Ball’s Super Slinky Strings, making bends and slides during solos smoother than on traditional setups.
