Now the Gibson USA Angus Young SG puts all the tone and playability of this classic double-cutaway into a signature model made to Young’s own specs.

Angus Young Signature

Angus Young is one of the most recognizable figures in all of rock and roll. As the lead guitarist for AC/DC, Angus Young has defined the stripped-down bare essence of hard rock for over two decades, and his faithful Gibson SG possesses that elusive and crunching rock and roll tone that so many players strive to achieve. The Gibson Angus Young Signature Humbucker is a bridge position pickup with an Alnico V magnet and special balanced-coil windings using vintage enamel-like coated wiring that delivers a 1–2 combination of punch and vintage tone. This is the pickup that Angus himself plays, and it features shielded, four–conductor wiring for series, parallel or split coil operation. It is also fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of microphonic feedback.

Angus Young Signature Guitar

Angus McKinnon Young (born 31 March 1955) is a Scottish-born Australian guitarist best known as a co-founder, lead guitarist, and songwriter of the Australian hard rock band, AC/DC. Known for his energetic performances, schoolboy-uniform stage outfits, and his popularization of Chuck Berry’s duckwalk, Rolling Stone magazine has ranked Young as the 24th greatest guitarist of all time. In 2003, he and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Life and career
Angus Young, the youngest of seven children of William (1911–1985) and Margaret Young (1913–1988), was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He dropped out of school at 15. In 1963, he emigrated to Sydney, Australia, with his parents, older brothers Malcolm and George, and older sister Margaret. Older brother, Alex, remained in Scotland and would later form the London-based group, Grapefruit.

Angus first started playing on banjos but re-strung them with six strings. Angus first started playing guitar on a cheap acoustic model purchased second-hand by his mother.
